Jane Hanson is a Consultant specializing in wage comparability studies, organizational development, grant writing, and community assessment. Since joining Foundations for Families in 2016, Jane has played a pivotal role in providing project support across internal teams and developing systems and tools to increase quality and efficiency, especially in data collection. Since 2022, Jane has led the Wage Comparability Study area of business, where she designs customized reports that provide data-driven insights to help agencies nationwide meet funding requirements, develop salary scales, and strategically plan for competitive wages. From 2023 to 2025, Jane served as a senior advisor to Mathematica’s “Investigating Strategies to Improve Head Start Educator Compensation” project, conducted on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation.
In addition to her work with Foundations for Families, Jane serves as the Assistant Director for the Partnership and Community Collaboration Academy, which provides live online training to employees who work in partnership with federal and state agencies, nonprofits, and universities.
Jane has extensive experience working in the public and nonprofit sectors. She is an expert in database development and management, systems planning, and project management. Her highly collaborative approach to supporting clients is driven by a commitment to helping them understand the value of their employees so they can build a sustainable budget and provide fair compensation.
Jane holds a B.A. in Literary Studies from Middlebury College in Vermont. In 2025, she earned a Compensation Studies Certificate from Cornell University.
Jane lives in northern Virginia and has a keen interest in gardening, ceramics, and textiles.
