FFF Launches Community Impact Award – Nominations Open

Now that 2026 is well underway, we are excited to announce a new opportunity to recognize exceptional approaches to meeting community needs. Today, nominations open for the Foundations for Families Community Impact Award. This spring, we will select one winner to receive $2,500 to support the work of their program or initiative.

The Community Impact Award recognizes agencies, businesses, or partnerships for their innovative, impactful, and sustainable contributions to their local community in the areas of workforce development, child care, and/or housing stabilization (individuals are not eligible to apply). We want to learn about your best work and its impact on the community!

There are three nominating criteria for the award, listed below. You may nominate your own agency or the work of others. To complete a nomination, you’ll need to answer a few questions describing your work, provide two letters of recommendation, and upload (optional) supplemental documentation.

  • Criteria #1: The recipient identified a significant need in the community and developed a plan to address it.

  • Criteria #2: The recipient demonstrated excellence in its ability to implement innovative practices that resulted in a measurable, positive impact for the local community.

  • Criteria #3: The recipient has identified strategies to ensure the sustainability of the community impact described earlier.

The timeline for the award process is as follows. Nominations will be open for approximately four weeks, and submissions will not be reviewed until the nomination window closes (March 27, 2026). The award winner will be announced in April during National Community Development Week.

  • February 23, 2026: Call for nominations opens

  • March 27, 2026 (5pm ET): Nominations window closes

  • No later than April 10, 2026: Award winner is announced on the Foundations for Families Talking Points blog and will be notified by direct email

  • May 2026: Award winner is profiled in a Talking Points blog post

We look forward to reading your submissions and selecting an honoree that shows excellence in meeting community needs. As noted above, the winner will receive $2,500 and will be highlighted in a blog post. We will also work with the winner to help share the great news of their award with partners, families, and the broader community.

If you’re familiar with our work, you will notice that 2026 also brings a new look and feel to the Foundations for Families website. Our commitment to strengthening communities is unchanged.
